Our Projects

At present, VirtualMuseum360 is directing one major international project – to create a virtual museum of the Silk Road. This was an overland network of tracks and paths that conveyed goods and cultures across the Eurasian continent. Possibly more important, but less well explored, are the maritime trade routes carrying goods from the Mediterranean to the East China Sea.

The project is sponsored by the International Institute for Asian Studies, based in Leiden (The Netherlands). It the first phase, the project will create a network of lined museum sites covering the period 1200-1450 CE, before the intrusion of European ships in the Indian Ocean.
